"Loukoumi'" a Syrian delight
It is a traditional sweet originating from Asia Minor and was brought to Syros with the refugees from Chios in 1832. The first official producer was Stamatelakis. Although the production process is time-consuming, its ingredients are simple: water, starch, and sugar. ‘Loukoumia’ are available plain or filled with nuts and in various flavors, such as mastic, peanut, rose, etc. ‘Loukoumi’ is a popular, traditional treat routinely served with Greek coffee.
Syrian sausage
The Syrian sausageis made from pork with fennel and has a distinct aromatic taste. It is a variation of the spicy garlic sausage.
San Michael cheese
The cheese takes its name from the homonymous village of San Michalis. In 1996 it was recognized as a product of a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). It is a hard cheese with a spicy, salty taste, produced from cow milk. t is one of the most expensive cheeses in Greece.
Mild Gruyere Cheese
It is white curd cheese from local milk.
Fresh moist "mizithra"

Kopanisti
It is a soft cheese mixture with a creamy texture blended with hot spices.
Capers
Syrian capers have a distinct taste and are ideal for cooking or salads
Fennel
It is often found in the local cuisine as it is abundant on the island. It is used in the form of seeds, leaves, or spread.
Sun-dried tomatoes
Local tomatoes are sun-dried outdoors, in a traditional manner.
Thyme honey
The thyme honey of Syros is an excellent quality product for its high nutritional value.
Crushed olives: '"Tsakistes"
A traditional island recipe is crushed olives in fennel and brine.
Pebbly Cheese: 'Petrota'
Soft, curdy cheese made from Syrian sheep or goat milk.
Halvadopita (nougat pie)
Another famous Syrian sweet is ‘halvadopita’ -nougat pie. A thick mixture of honey, sugar, vanilla, glucose, egg whites, and almonds fills two thin wafer sheets.

Sweetened dried fig stuffed with nuts.
