Exhibition of traditional occupations

Objects used in the conventional line of work of a carpenter, barber, and farmer … Old objects of daily use, such as oil lamps and sewing machines, are displayed. The exhibition is located in Ano Syros.

Markos Vamvakaris Exhibition

It pays homage to the Syrian Markos Vamvakaris and his famous Fragosyriani. The exhibit displays photographic material, documentaries about his life, and some of his personal items. The exhibition is in Ano Syros. Contact: 22810 88487

Exhibition of Historical Remembrance

It demonstrates the area’s evolution in thematic and chronological order. Initially, it served as a Near East Relief school orphanage, the largest at that time in the Mediterranean. Later, as a reformatory, and finally, from 1934 until today it serves as the “Captain Zaphiris Apostolou” military camp.

The Archaeological Museum of Syros

The Archaeological Museum of Syros is one of the oldest museums in Greece, founded in 1834. From 1901 until today, it is housed in the Town Hall of Ermoupolis. Its exhibits include significant finds from the archaeological sites of Kastri and Chalandriani and tombstones from the Ancient City of Syros.

Ermoupolis Industrial Museum

The Industrial Museum of Ermoupolis is in the restored buildings: Katsimantis Paint Factory, Anairousi Αmmunition Factory, Kornilaki Tannery and Velissaropoulou Textile Factory. The exhibits are from workshops on sweets, printing, glass-making, textiles, mechanical engineering, and tanning. Together with the tools and equipment from the mentioned workshops, there is an exhibition of digital material and Greece’s first electric car, the Enfield 8000. Contact: ketepo

TEXTILE INDUSTRY OF HERMOUPOLIS
“The Manchester” of Greece

This is a textile factory of great historical importance located in Syros. A visit to the museum is a unique opportunity for visitors to be in a real factory and see the entire production line and machinery as they have been frozen in time. Since no other factory has survived out of the 68 that once existed in Syros, it is a unique attraction and point of reference for the Textile Industry of Ermoupolis. The Museum is open for experiential tours. Experiential tours take place daily at the following times by reservation: 11:00 & 20:00

Ermoupolis Ecclesiastical Museum

In 1984, Dorotheos A., the revered Archbishop of Syros, founded the Ecclesiastical Museum of Ermoupolis. Holy heirlooms collected from the greater metropolitan area are exhibited near the church of St. Nicholas, along with objects of Cycladic folklore. Contact: 22810 88487

Cycladic Art Replica Exhibition

The exhibition focuses on the 3rd millennium BC. Cycladic art. Replicas from the Goulandris Museum of Athens are on display, and at the same time, various educational programs are taking place. Kyveli Institute

The Institute is named so after the talented Greek actress Kyveli (1988–1987). It was founded in 1999 to preserve, research, upgrade, and exhibit historical objects about the Greek and European theater of the 20th century, based on the life of the actress and her family.
